(Senior) Research Associate, Molecular Immunology*

BioNTech US is seeking a Research Associate to join our Molecular Immunology team to support the Early Target Discovery Platform. The associate will work in a matrix type environment, working not only within the Molecular Immunology team, but will also interact closely with members of Protein Sciences and Bioinformatics. The associate will work to understand the immunogenicity of potential targets for therapies from across the BioNTech portfolio. This position reports to Associate Scientist, Molecular Immunology.

Supporting BioNTech’s R&D team in the US by:
  • Maintenance of mammalian cell culture
  • Production of DC and T cells from primary human PBMCs
  • DNA cloning and production of IVT RNA
  • Lentiviral production and transduction of cell lines
  • Genetic manipulation of cell lines and primary cells
  • Primary T cell culture and analysis of T cell populations
  • Tracking and compiling results in an electronic notebook
  • Analysis and presentation of results to other scientific teams

What you have to offer.

  • BS/MS in Immunology and/or related field with 2 years of direct laboratory experience in academia or industry
  • Mammalian cell line and/or primary immune cell culture experience required
  • Experience in Molecular Biology is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in cell-based assays, preferably immune cell assays (i.e. flow cytometry)
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a collaborative environment to meet project goals
  • Excellent attention to detail, and written and oral communication skills
  • Enjoys solving challenging scientific questions in a fast pace environment
  • Independent, flexible, self-motivated, with the ability to collaborate well with others
